Apply to for this exciting opportunity in TWO easy steps:

    • Select up to five positions to include in your application.
  2. Complete the K-16 Work Experience Application;
    • Takes 30 minutes or less!
    • Submit your resume, unofficial transcript, and brief video or written statement as part of your application.

Interviews will take place in  May 2024 and work experience will begin in Fall 2024.

Paid work experiences are available with local educational agencies (LEAs) throughout the San Diego and Imperial region for current community college and university students interested in pursuing careers in education.

Program Highlights

  • Earn $20/hour for up to 290 hours of in-person work experience;

    • 250 hours at a K-12 school site;

    • 40 hours of training, onboarding, and ongoing support;

  • Training & onboarding in August 2024; Work with students during the 2024-25 school year;

  • Opportunities available at elementary, middle and high school sites across San Diego and Imperial counties;

  • Launch your career in teaching and make valuable connections with K-12 educators!

Do you quality?

  1. Be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S.

  2. Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate course of study at a public community college or university in San Diego or Imperial county;

  3. Complete the work experience application;

    • Provide an introductory video (2 minutes) or written statement (200 – 300 words); 

      • Tell us about yourself and why you are interested in a career in education.

  4. Attach PDF copies of the following:

    • Updated resume 

    • Unofficial transcript(s)

    • Supplementary materials (if requested).

Your college also has many support services for current students, such as:

  • Transportation support (ex: bus passes)
  • Career closet (professional clothes at low or no cost)
