K-16 Collaborative Healthcare Projects

Thank you to those who were able to attend the informational meeting on Thursday, February 27, 2025. We are asking for volunteer assistance on two projects:

  1. Healthcare Career Exploration & Pathways Resource
  2. Regional Healthcare Engagement Event

Regional Healthcare Career Exploration & Pathways Resource

  • Shareable resource guide for students, parents, teachers, and counselors
    (primary audience is high school & community college)
  • Resource covers a vast range of occupations in the healthcare sector including job descriptions, skill/educational requirements (licensure/certifications), salary/hourly wages, and labor market information specific to the San Diego and Imperial region
  • Occupation clusters include: Patient Care/Therapeutic Services, Behavioral and Mental Health, Diagnostic Services, Biotechnology R&D, Health Informatics, Public Health, and Support Services (about 150 occupations plus 50 specialties)
  • Resource guide created by end of Summer 2025 to rollout to region in Fall 2025

Regional Healthcare Engagement Event

  • Professional development in-person event in early December 2025 for educators / counselors / administrators across segments and healthcare industry partners

  • Introduce and learn how to best use the resource guide

  • Gain a broader understanding of the postsecondary healthcare pathways, occupations and labor market demand

  • Discuss what programming exists within our region and how we can best support our underrepresented students.
    • Where are the gaps and how can we develop programs/supports to increase student success? Examples: impacted programs, math/language deficiencies, etc.

We will be hosting monthly Zoom meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, from 3:30-4:30pm:

  • April 8
  • May 13
  • June 10
  • August 12
  • September 9
  • October 14
  • November 11 (will be rescheduled due to Veteran’s Day)

We anticipate the event date will be Friday, December 5, 2025.
